Tabor Twins, One Month Old

Recently I had the opportunity to photograph a family friend's beautiful set of boy/girl twins.  They were just the cutest things I have ever seen!  Congrats Mom and Dad on two beautiful, perfect babies :)

Here are some of the shots from that day.  Enjoy!

Weddings II

Hey all!  This week in school we worked on weddings II.  This consisted of doing an engagement photo session, and learning album design.  I really enjoyed this week and was sad that it was our last week with Lara of The Studio Nouveau.  She was an awesome teacher!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Weddings Week One

Hey guys!  Another post this week!  Im on a roll haha.  So this week we started studying wedding photography.  I say started because we have two weeks of it.  The first is all about the actual wedding.  The second is focusing on engagements and creating a wedding album.  The first two days of class were mostly lecture.  Our teacher for this module was Lara of Studio Nouveau (http://www.thestudionouveau.com/).  She is super talented and a wicked good teacher.  I learned a lot from her!   Yesterday was our mock wedding.  We had two sets of models come and we worked with them in groups posing the bride and groom together.  We even had them walk down the aisle like they were actually getting married.  Anyway at the end of the day I think I came away with some pretty nice images.  A big thanks to all the models this week!

Enjoy

And a Few Weeks Later....

Hey Everybody!

Wow, I've been a bad blogger... again.  Let me do a quick recap of the last few weeks.  Since I last posted I have had an environmental portraiture class which we went to many locations around Waltham and Boston, working with a portable studio.  We ended up shooting half a day at the State House down town which is BEAUTIFUL.  One of the prettiest buildings I have ever seen.  We also worked for a half day at the book store next door to school.  The week after that we had a business class where we created a business plan, which contained a budget, marketing ideas, and goals for years one, two, and five.  That whole week we didn't shoot anything, so I don't have anything to post.  Finally, this week we are working on Photo Illustration.  Any thing that you see in advertising (magazines, newspapers, websites) that have images that have been Photoshoped for a specific purpose or message is a photo illustration.  And any week where we are working mostly in photoshop is a good week for me! haha.  The first project we did was: "Do something impossible with your phone", so I put it into the back of my instructors head.  I also had the great pleasure of photographing a Rolls-Royce Phantom for my final project, and let me tell you, that is a NICE car.  Afterwards I photographed Kerry in the studio and used images of trees that I already had to combine it into the final image.

Hope everybody is having a good week!  Hang in there Spring is almost here! :)

And if I were a graphic design artist the caption would read: Put the excitement back into luxury cars.

Have a good weekend!

Hello Again

Hey everybody!  Sorry no post last week, but I haven't had a spare moment til now!

This week and last week were (again) messed up due to snow storms.  Man, we just keep getting slammed with snow over and over again!   Anyway, last week we worked with speed lights (They are the big flashes that go on top of cameras)  When you think of flash photography, it usually isn't very pretty... until you get the flash unit off the camera body.  Then you can make it look like $5,000 worth of studio equipment!  The trick is to have more than one flash linked up together and fire at the same time.  Then you can add in things like umbrellas or softboxes to soften and spread out the light.  We also learned and experimented with using very long exposures in complete darkness and firing the flash several times to freeze what was going on in the room.  The products can very widely depending on what you do, but once you get the hang of speed lights the options are endless!

This week we are working with portraits outside the studio.  So doing them at peoples homes, outside, anywhere but a traditional studio.  Too bad the weather was so bad we could only go out for a couple of hours total the whole week.  But regardless I also learned a lot about the business side of portraiture.  I just can't wait to get out of school and hit the ground running!

As always, here are some shots from the past two weeks.  Enjoy!

Another Week Done!

Hey guys.  Here are some more shots from this week.  I loved getting to play with all the different light setups this week.  Getting to shoot each other in different light settings you really get the hang of using light to sculpt the face.  Another high point of the week was when professional bassist Mark Poniatowski came in and allowed me to photograph him. He was great to work with and is very talented!  If you get a chance check him out!

Hope everybody has a great weekend!
